Employment Summary

Microsoft (3/2009 to 10/2009) – Insight Global

Position: Software Design Engineer

Focus:  I worked with Microsoft’s Agile Labs Team on two projects. Nebula User Interface which was a MVC (Models, Views and Controllers) based website to exploit and control the Nebula API. The Nebula API was a newly designed Virtual Machine allocation and billing system.  The other project was the implement of C# code to utilize SAN hardware providers and commission, manage and decommission LUNs from host machines. Completed start up iterations for Nebula UI and SAN C# Deployment for Xiotech systems.

Microsoft (4/2008 to 11/2008) – Vendor (Xtreme Consulting)

Position: Software Design Engineer

Focus:  The VM rapid deployment project was a proof of concept system I developed for the Microsoft DSS virtualization team. I produced a working 5 host server/single management server prototype. The job involved Program Management, System and Software Design. The final prototype was able to deploy Virtual Machines from a SAN very quickly on multiple Windows 2008 Hyper-V hosts. The system also utilized automation runspaces for powershell cmdlet execution on hosts and the management server. Remoting was done utilizing .Net Remoting. The details of this are beyond this brief. During this project I also successfully managed the relationship between the third-party vendor NetApp and Microsoft. I clarified deliverables and requirements for their part of the solution. I worked directly with the Microsoft System Architect to identify key design considerations. I also verified the key deliverables and resolved blocking design issues.

Microsoft (1/2007 to 1/2/2008) – Contract (Siemens)

Position: Microsoft Partner Technology Consultant

VScore was a C# program that utilized framework 2.0 code with calls to unmanaged code to core libraries such as setupapi. VScore was used for multiple scenerios including; standalone operation, multiple machine data collection and automated test environment scenerios. During my tenure I also updated the internal build verification SKU Lab Web site (Asp.net and SQL). I also created a website for management so they could review the collected data from multiple Vista deployments using data collected by the VScore tool. Finally, I assisted the App Compatibility group by adding soft blocks to Vista to help management third-party drivers. I used all standard MS tools (Product Studio, Build Environment, IDE) .
